All You Need to Know About the Electric GMC Hummer

December 4th, 2020 by

Throughout the early 2000s, the GMC Hummer ruled the roads. However, as the decade was coming to a close, drivers began to turn to more efficient vehicles. Due to this change in driver tastes and habits, GMC discontinued the fun-to-drive yet gas-guzzling Hummer in 2010. In fall 2021, the Hummer makes its triumphant return, this time as an all-electric pickup truck. Here’s what you need to know about this exciting new version of the GMC Hummer.

Bold Exterior

The first thing you’ll notice about the electric Hummer, which GMC plans to release as the Hummer EV Edition 1, is its tall and broad frame featuring instantly recognizable Hummer badging. The Hummer EV’s impressive size isn’t the only thing that makes this pickup truck stand out. Exterior highlights include premium LED lighting and distinctive skid plates. GMC adds its six-function MultiPro tailgate for easy cargo loading.

The Hummer EV’s 18-inch wheels and 35-inch-OD Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires don’t just look amazing — they also optimize the pickup truck’s maneuverability. While GMC plans to release additional exterior colors, you can expect the Hummer EV Edition 1 to come in white with a black roof. And speaking of the roof, it’s removable and teams up with a sliding rear window for exhilarating open-air driving.

Unique Interior

Taking inspiration from space travel and planetary landscapes, the Hummer EV’s interior is truly unique. On the Bose speaker grilles, you’ll notice an inlaid map of the Sea of Tranquility. Another intriguing detail is the copy of Neil Armstrong’s boot print that adorns the driver’s footrest. The spacious cabin’s bronze accents are accentuated by natural light flooding through the transparent sky panels. The cabin’s all-weather flooring is durable and easy to maintain. The 13.4-inch infotainment screen features smartphone integration and OnStar emergency services.

Impressive Performance

The word powerful doesn’t even begin to describe the performance the Hummer EV delivers. This innovative all-electric pickup truck features three electrical motors capable of producing 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque. Its robust powertrain enables the Hummer EV to go from zero to 60 miles per hour in three seconds. Even more impressive is the truck’s 11,000-pound towing capacity and 3,500-pound payload capacity.

An all-wheel-drive system paired with an independent suspension enables the Hummer EV to tackle rugged terrain and nimbly navigate city streets. Crabwalk, a new driving mode exclusive to the Hummer EV, enables you to drive the pickup diagonally, which will come in handy on narrow trails and other tight spaces. Another mode, which GMC calls Extract, raises the suspension when the Hummer EV needs extra ground clearance.

Intelligent Safety Features

You can enjoy the Hummer EV’s impressive performance and good looks with confidence, thanks to its many intelligent safety features. Blind-spot monitoring makes changing lanes safer by warning you when another vehicle enters your blind spots. A lane-departure alert can detect unintentional drifting and apply corrective steering. Automated emergency braking offers additional brake support to mitigate and prevent collisions.

As you can see, you have a lot to look forward to with the Hummer EV. Dahl Chevrolet GMC is always keeping up to date with the latest news and announcements related to the 2022 GMC Hummer, so stay tuned.
